Who is Jon D'Eaux?

Jon D’Eaux and the Sibling Rivals is a recording project created by Rob McLean of Guelph, Ontario. McLean was heavily involved in the Canadian independent music scene when he was younger, but it took having three kids of his own to help him rediscover the joy of making – and recording – original music. The resulting album is "family friendly” pop rock that doesn’t speak down to kids, nor does it sell grown-up tastes short – it’s music for families to listen to together. Think Green Day or the Foo Fighters without adult themes and F-bombs.

If It’s Too Loud, You’re Too Old was released in the summer of 2014. The songs were written in collaboration between McLean and his three children, ages two, five and seven. The kids came up with melodies and primary lyrics for the songs, and McLean fleshed each song out from there, arranging, recording, mixing, and producing the album, performing each part of the "full band” recording in its entirety.

The name "Jon D’Eaux and the Sibling Rivals” keeps the focus on the fun spirit of the music, not on any "real people,” keeping actual kids out of the process of "selling an album.” Just as this album was created together by a family, it is also appropriate (and intended) for families to enjoy together.

This album supports the belief that kids aren’t dumb, so music directed at them shouldn’t be either.
